It has been said that the Province of Davao Oriental was first in its part of the world to witness the daybreak of the new millennium, as it is located in the easternmost section of Mindanao, bounded by the Pacific Ocean in the east, Davao Province in the west, Agusan Sur and Surigao Sur in the north and the Davao Gulf and Celebes Sea in the south.
The diverse and rich natural resources the Province is endowed with make it the country’s leading coconut producer, the region’s leader in wood production, and the prime spot for deposits of nickel, chromite, manganese, copper, cobalt, silver, gold, iron, silica, magnesite and limestones.
The province also offers many places for enjoying nature’s beauty, such as the hot and cold springs of Lupon and of Boston, the waterfalls of Cateel, the pygmy forest of San Isidro, and the white-sand beaches of Mati and of Baganga. The relics of Caraga would be an ideal destination in the province for people appreciative of culture and local history.
