Davao City have adopted new speeding guidelines for motorists.
Section 35 of the Republic Act 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code) provides the maximum allowable speed “on open country roads, with no ‘blind corners’ not closely bordered by habitations” is 80 kph for passengers cars and motorcycles and 50 kph for motor trucks and buses; on “thorough streets” or boulevards, clear of traffic, with no “blind corners” is 40 kph (passengers cars and motorcycles) and 30 kph (motor trucks and buses).
Meanwhile, the required speed limit “on city and municipal streets, with light traffic, when not designated ‘thorough streets’ is 30 kph both for passengers cars and motorcycles, and motor trucks and buses; and 20 kph is the maximum allowable speed on “thorough crowded streets, approaching intersections at ‘blind corners’ passing school zones, passing other vehicles which are stationery, or for similar dangerous circumstances.”
