President Noynoy Aquino signed last September 25 Proclamation No. 656 declaring October 28 a special non-working holiday for the 2013 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections.
“It is important to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections and exercise their right to vote,” the Proclamation said.
Barangay Election 2013 will be a manual election and not automated as the May 2013 national elections. The ballots will be blank and voters will be required to write in the name of the candidates that they want to vote for.
It is interesting to note that October 28 falls on a Monday so that’s a long weekend for us. Since it’s a special non-working holiday, you can’t excuse yourself from voting. Exercise your right to vote and play role in shaping our future!
