Studies have shown that engaging in mental activity through games and puzzles like the Rubik’s Cube can help keep the mind sharp even at an old age just like a regular physical exercise helps the body.
Completing puzzles, crosswords and board games have shown to be beneficial to the maintenance of short term memory, eye-hand coordination and general concentration. Even the Department of Education has included the 3x3x3 Rubiks Cube Competition from Grades 4 to 10 as part of the Sci-Math Competitions.
The Philippine Cubers Association (PCA) is a non-profit organization recognized by the World Cubing Association (WCA). It provides successful competitions since 2007 in different parts of the country. The organization aims to make people more aware of the world of speed cubing and help more aspiring speed cubers to be the best.
On November 15, 2015, Davao Cubers Association (DCA) will organize the first ever official speed cubing competition sanctioned by the WCA at the SM Lanang Premier Atrium.
This event aims to beat the Philippine Record or better yet the World Record thus providing new opportunities for Davaoeño players to be known on this sport.
The event is spearheaded by Richert Jay Pinca together with Edrian Tepait, Jasper Montero, Georel Ulangkaya and Jerlyn Manginlaud.
