On August 10, 2016, Globe telecom inaugurated the SEA-US cable system project at SM Lanang Premier, Davao City with its data center expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2017.

The data center may be considered as the primary site for Mindanao and the secondary site for Luzon and Visayas, having a facility be retrofitted for earthquake safety being a Seismic Zone 4 compliant.

This project will surely position Davao in the global connectivity map by aggressively building its network’s infrastructure that includes the construction of the Philippines’ end of an international undersea cable system. This facility is one of its kind in the country to Directly connect Davao with the rest of the world.

The SEA-US is in the confederacy of 7 international telecommunication companies namely PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), Telkom USA, GTI Corporation ( a member of the Globe Group of Companies) RAM Telecom International (RTI), Teleguam Holdings (GTA) and Hawaiian Telcom (HTel). The SEA-US cable will link 5 countries and territories namely, Indonesia, Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, and Los Angeles in the USA.

This multi-million dollar project will provide superior latency delivering an additional 20 terabytes per second capacity, utilizing the latest 100 gigabytes per second transmission technology. This will expand the business requirement for data in the whole country, ensuring flexibility in internet connection. Once completed, this will address ICT requirements of major trade and industry centers in Mindanao.
