On August 8, 2016, TM’s Basketball Clinic visited Brgy 76-A SIR Matina with LA Tenorio and other basketball coaches. It will be succeeded by a 3-on-3 game to determine the best team who will qualify for the NBA 3x in MOA Arena on Aug 19-20, 2016,
The event was organized to get wind of young talents who are underprivileged, but has a heart for the sport. This advocacy aims to provide sports development, value for sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle to various local sports communities across the country. In partnership with LA Tenorio’s Method Basketball Academy and TM, this will create opportunities for higher learning helping the Filipino youth through sports. It is a search for more promising basketball players for national training. “These aspiring young players are encouraged to showcase their talent and to excel in the sport for a bigger platform,” says Mr. Fernando “Bong” Esguerra Jr, Globe’s Director for Corporate Social Responsibility. Its sustainability will commence after the NBA 3-on-3 competition by sports equipment donation and proper coaches training to hone these kids for the sport.
The basketball clinic has already successfully completed its program in Cebu, Cavite, and Bulacan. The NBA 3-on-3 will be participated by over 200 teams from all over the country; a total NBA experience with Milwaukee Bucks and Michael Carter-Williams as guest NBA star.
This advocacy will provide bigger opportunities for young talents in the provinces as the idea is to bring the programs to them instead of having them fly to Manila. It aims to hone more children into sports of any kind as this helps build character and values they can use apply in their lives through sports. Also, it is expected to give young talents an idea that through sports, they’ll be able to sustain their education with local, national, or even international scholarship opportunities.
