Tagum is RP’s Most Business Friendly LGU

TAGUM CITY—Proving the effectiveness of the local government’s initiatives in creating a conducive business environment, the City Government of Tagum was declared as the 2017 Most Business Friendly Local Government Unit (Level 2 Category) of the Philippines.

No less than President Rodrigo Duterte led the awarding of the said recognition in a fitting ceremony held in the concluding rites of the Philippine Business Conference and Expo held at the Manila Hotel last October 19, 2017.

Mayor Allan Rellon stressed that this is a fruition of his administration’s bold initiatives in sustaining the luster of Tagum’s economic dynamism as anchored on his agenda on pumping up the economy and on affordable taxation under his flagship program EAGLE WINGS.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., the biggest association of business organizations in the country, commends the local government’s efforts in creating a model for LGUs in terms of creating an ecosystem that benefits both businesses and the city in general.

Annually, PCCI recognizes LGUs that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in instituting good governance reforms to promote trade and investments, employment, transparency, accountability and efficiency in delivering business services to fuel up local inclusive growth.

In their dossier presented to the PCCI, Mayor Rellon shared that it puts premium on institutionalizing efforts to reduce the hassle on the part of businessmen of both big and small business ventures.

A three-step streamlined and efficient process of acquiring a business permit in Tagum is now reaping fruits, and a business permit can be released in a matter of 30 minutes, the mayor shared.

Other initiatives that were praised by the PCCI include the city’s effective local governance, its focus on information technology, emphasis on soft and hard infrastructure, assistance to micro, small and medium entrepreneurs, focus on investment and tourism as a driver for growth, evident and productive public-private partnership and most importantly, affordable taxation.

Mayor Rellon is bullish this award will result to more investments in Tagum that would surely benefit Tagumenyos in terms of job generation.

“We will be consistent with our policies and shall continue to innovate the same as we strive to become a City of People—where businesses are thriving, SMEs are given an equal playing field and people have jobs to bring food to their table and sustain their family’s needs,” the local chief executive said.
