“Salad oh! Init pa!,” phrase is NOT banned in Davao City

The reported banning of the popular expression “Salad oh! Init pa” by Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is NOT TRUE, somehow perpetuated by social media, news sources, etc… It appears that the intended rule was to issue a warning against Dabawenyos who will be caught blurting out the phrase would end up to prison.

“Salad Oh! Init pa!” is a phrase originated from a vendor selling commercial fruit cocktails from Cagayan de Oro City. It is a visayan phrase for “GORGEOUS and SEXY”. After which, it was used by one of the Disc Jock of an FM Station and was introduced all over Mindanao.

In his television program “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa” aired in ABS-CBN 4 Davao on Sunday, Vice Mayor Duterte denied the rumor about banning the “Salad oh! Init pa” expression.

Vice Mayor Duterte said he has more important concerns to attend to than ban an expression that is not at all illegal nor offensive.

“Wala man gani ko napriso na sige kog pamalikas dinhi sa telebisyon. Ayaw mog tuo ana (I was not even jailed when I utter more offensive statements on television. Don’t believe that rumor). It is not degrading, insulting or nothing at all. You will just be wasting your time,” he stressed.

CNN and Sun Star Davao has the information on their website.
